BISPHOSPHONATE-RELATED OSTEONECROSIS OF THE JAWS: A CASE REPORT

イメージ
A case report Seventy-seven years old female patient visited our hospital with chief complain of severe pain in right lower first molar, which was endodontically treated before. She was treated for osteoporosis for some years with per os bisphosphonates "ricalbon".  Radiographic view of the site reveals radiolucency around the tooth. we suspected osteomyelitis of the jaw bone. The tooth was extracted immediately to prevent expanding of the inflammation, although there was risk of extraction procedure itself. The patient was doing well after the treatment. Panoramic radiographic view of the patient. Radiographic radiolucency was observed in the site of right lower  first molar. The tooth eaxtracted and sequestrum. THE METHOD FOR CLOSING EXTRACTION SOCKET, PART IV: CLOSING @THE MAXILLARY POSTERIOR REGION

THE METHOD FOR CLOSING EXTRACTION SOCKET, PART IV: CLOSING @THE MAXILLARY POSTERIOR REGION 抜歯窩閉鎖法パート IV:  上顎後方部における閉鎖 SPLIT PALATAL FLAP TO CLOSE THE RECIPIENT EXTRACTION SITE スプリット口蓋弁を使用する受容抜歯窩の閉鎖  When we perform immediate implant insertion to the immediate (or delayed) extraction socket, complete closing of the mucosa may be considered to be difficult.  Although several methods of the closing the extraction socket have been proposed, complete closing seems to be difficult clinically.  The method of split palatal flap technique  to close the immediate extraction socket may be  useful for a solution to the problem when the palatal flap is very thin . Advantages of the method are: 1) simple and easy procedures. 2) useful in the  maxillary posterior region that has the thin mucosa. Shortcomings are: 1) extensive flap elevation. 2)  morbidity with flap elevation with split incision such as bleeding. 3) sometim...

AN INTERESTING ARTICLE IN JOMI 2013: CLASSIFICATION OF MOLAR EXTRACTION SITES FOR IMMEDIATE DENTAL IMPLANT PLACEMENT: TECHNICAL NOTE BY Smith RB, Tarnow DP.

Classification of molar extraction sites for immediate dental implant placement: technical note. Smith RB, Tarnow DP. Int J Oral Maxillofac Implants. 2013 May-Jun;28(3):911-6. doi: 10.11607/jomi.2627. Department of Prosthodontics, Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, New York, New York 10155, USA. RSmith@SDNonline.com Dental implants may be successfully placed immediately into fresh extraction sockets when primary implant stability can be attained. This article presents a new classification system for molar extraction sites that describes extraction sockets based upon the bone available within the socket for stabilization of an immediately placed implant. Three categories--types A, B, and C--are employed: the type A socket, which allows for the implant to be placed completely within the septal bone, leaving no gaps between the implant and the socket walls; the type B socket, which has enough septal bone to stab...

Rutile Titanium allergy in dental implant patients: a clinical study on 1500 consecutive patients  Sicilia A, Cuesta S, Coma G, Arregui I, Guisasola C, Ruiz E, Maestro A. Titanium allergy in dental implant patients: a clinical study on 1500 consecutive patients. Clin. Oral Impl. Res. 19, 2008; 823–835 doi: 10.1111/j.1600-0501.2008.01544.x Given its high resistance to corrosion in a physiological environment and the excellent biocompatibility that gives it a passive, stable oxide film, titanium is considered the material of choice for intraosseous use in the medical field (Smith et al. 1997; Sykaras et al. 2000; Frisken et al. 2002; Akagawa & Abe 2003). This metal has been somewhat surrounded by mysticism in the world of dentistry (Parr et al. 1985), to the extent that there is a general belief, biologically inexplicable, yet still shown in some publications (Hensten-Pettersen 1992; Basketter et al. 2000; El Salam El Askary 2003), that it cannot cause allergic ...

A TREATMENT MODALITY FOR PERI-IMPLANTITIS:インプラント周囲炎の一治療法

A TREATMENT MODALITY FOR PERI-IMPLANTITIS Peri-implantitis (PI)  is a big headache for oral implant clinicians. Although many treatment methods for PI has been proposed, it seems to be variable for the concept in focusing what is important for healing. We introduce a treatment modality for PI with moderately roughened surface implants through our cases indicated below. Case 1 A 60 years old female patient receive oral implant treatment in 2005. SINUS BONE GRAFT WITHOUT GRAFT MATERIALS: A CASE REPORT

イメージ
SINUS BONE GRAFT WITHOUT GRAFT MATERIALS: A CASE REPORT 骨移植材を使用しない上顎洞骨移植:症例報告 katosika.dental We had believed that sinus bone graft needs living autogenous bone or other graft materials not alive  for resisting air pressure that gradually resorbs the bottom the sinus as a result. However, can the fact that needs some graft materials be true? Dr. Jensen wrote that …….in 1997, I observed a strange phenomenon in a maxillary fracture patient. A unilateral ossification of the maxillary antrum occurred following a Le Fort III fracture that had been treated the year before. I wondered how trauma around the antrum due to an impacted maxilla and the inferiorly displaced orbital rim could lead an ossified maxillary sinus…………This unusual finding remained a mystery to me for many years…….He (Phil Boyne) found that preservation elevated sinus membrane created a confined space in which bone had the potential to form. 1) Until now, clinicians had found that maxillary sinus h...
